osamu tezuka’s metropolis Steelbook

Sometimes having a limited amount of assets can breed creativity. For our special Steelbook edition of Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis, we wanted to make something unique from past releases of this product and use iconography for the packaging that hasn’t been used before. When Sony didn’t have much to give us, I ended up screening the film multiple times and using a combination of screenshots and my own hand-drawn additions to pull together this product. I think my favorite part is the contrast between the red-and-purple front and back covers and the green edges - Steelbook’s packaging really made Tezuka’s beautiful backgrounds shine.
